CSF Membership -

Membership in the California Scholarship Federation

All students may apply for CSF membership once they have completed one term of High School.  The exception is for incoming 9th graders who were recognized as Honor students in the CJSF chapters at their middle schools.  These Honor students will be considered CSF Associate members with voting privileges during their first semester of high school.   This is the only time that an incoming 9th grader can be a member of any CSF chapter during their first semester of high school.
Membership for spring term 9th graders and fall term 10th graders is considered Associate Membership.  Official Membership begins during spring term of 10th grade year.  All Del Oro CSF Membership guidelines follow the State CJSF/CSF Board bylaws.
To qualify for CSF membership, each term an application must be completed.  Students must request an unofficial transcript from Mrs. Anganes in the Student Services office and submit the online application as well.  The deadline is always the third Friday after school begins in August and then again in January.  There are NO exceptions for late applications - they are not accepted!  Fall 2019 Application deadline is August 30, 2019.
For the application follow these guidelines:

  1. You must earn a minimum of 10 point from last term's grades in only 25 units of study. [Just 2 1/2 classes.]
    • The first 4 points must be from LIST I. [Unless you are a senior applying in January or May]
    • The next 3 points must be from either LISTS I or II. [Seniors applying in January or May must have a minimum of 7 points combined from List I and List II, or all 7 points may come from List II.]
    • The remaining 3 points may come from any LIST (I, II or III)
  2. No CSF points are given for the following classes:
    • P.E.
    • T.A.
    • Pass/Fail courses
    • Repeated classes
  3. CSF points for our 4 x 4 block terms are granted as follows:
    • a grade of A = 6 CSF points
    • a grade of B = 2 CSF points
    • a grade of C = 0 CSF points
    • a grade of D or F in any course, even in a course you cannot use to qualify, disqualifies you from membership.
(Note: a grade of an A in an AP, IB or UC designated honors course earns 8 CSF points, a grade of a B in one of these courses earns 4 CSF points.  A maximum of two additional points may be used per enrollment period which means a student may only receive the additional points for one of these courses.)

Also remember:
  1. Term membership is based on work done in the previous term.
  2. Summer school courses DO NOT COUNT.
  3. You must reapply each term, and meet the application deadline.
  4. You can only use 25 units of study to qualify, that is only 2 1/2 courses for our block schedule.
  5. If you have an unbalanced course load for the academic year, go to change day and balance your academic courses to increase your chance of qualifying each term.  This is your responsibility, not the CSF Advisors!!

****Official Membership Lists will be posted on the window of room 403 one week after the application deadline.
