About Me

EDUCATION
I was born and raised in West Covina, a suburb of Los Angeles in Southern California, and attended Covina High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Pepperdine University  in Malibu, California in 1995.

MY FAMILY
I am proud to say I am a stepmom to my wonderful 18-year-old stepdaughter Ashlie, who graduated from Will C. Wood High School this past June, and I am the proud mommy to my sweet Emma who is 6. If you stop by my classroom you will see lots of pictures, as I do like to brag. :-)

BEGINNING TEACHING
After two years of working odd jobs, I missed mathematics too much, and decided to get into teaching, which was my original plan. I began my teaching career at Chaminade College Preparatory High School, a private school in West Hills, California. I taught many levels of math including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Precalculus. I also served as Assistant Activities Director as well as Activities Director while there, so I was in charge of all dances, rallies, and student government during that time. After six great years in private school, I decided to move north (I was tired of So Cal) and to go back to school for my credential and masters degree.BEGINNING TEACHING

MOVING TO NORTHERN CA
In 2003 I moved to Davis, California and attended UC Davis for my teaching credential. I did my student teaching at River City High School in West Sacramento (before they moved to their new facilities) and taught both Algebra Ib and Algebra II. I also received my Masters in Education the year after from UC Davis, where my research project involved my Board Work formative assessment tool I had developed years prior. I was at Rocklin High School for my first three years of public school teaching. There I taught Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. As well I served as a class advisor for two years.

FROM ROCKLIN TO DIXON
During that first year at Rocklin HS I met and married my husband, and moved to Vacaville. I commuted to Rocklin for a year and a half but the drive was too much - so in 2007 I began teaching at Dixon High School - the first year at the new campus. I enjoyed the students in Dixon very much over the eight years I taught there, and had wonderful opportunities to teach a variety of courses including Basic Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra Support, Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, Precalculus and AP Calculus. I was also fondly known as the "skit girl" as I frequently put together our faculty skits for rallies. From 2009 to 2012 I was also the Leadership teacher, so I got a few more years experience overseeing student government and activities on campus.

THE ROAD TO DEL ORO
(coming soon)

If you have made it this far, you know more than enough about me I'm sure. For now, I will wrap it up by saying I love math and enjoy teaching very much. I count myself very fortunate to be making a living by doing something I love.
