Expository Paragraph Structure

Review

An expository paragraph is a group of sentences that work together to (1) define a topic, (2) provide evidence and (3) explain how the evidence proves that the topic is correct. Expository paragraphs explain and develop your opinion about something in a way that's easy for readers to follow along with. In English 9 and 10, we work on a specific paragraph structure that practices inside one piece of writing all the fundamental skills of persuasive and expository writing: from stating your opinion, to providing evidence in context, to analysis, to the art of smooth transitions and conclusions.
