Compound Sentence Structure

A good writer knows that to hold his/her audiences interest he/she must vary not only the length but also the kinds of sentences that he/she writes. Compound sentences are one way to add variety; however, incorrect or missing punctuation lessens the effectiveness of compound sentences, thus creating run-on sentences, fragments, and confusion.
