What is Philosophy?




This unit will introduce you to the course by examining the question "What is Philosophy?" We will study:
  • Six general branches of philosophy
  • Critical thinking processes
  • Logical syllogisms
  • Logical fallacies
  • Deductive and inductive reasoning
  • Beginnings of Western philosophy with the pre-Socratics, ancient Greeks, and Scholastics
You will also examine your existing belief system by writing a "This I Believe" essay and a Six-Word Memoir.
