The Company at Del Oro Presents

We are proud to present this tragic and compelling play about a small town's reaction to a terrible murder that attracted national news attention. In October 1998, twenty-one year-old Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming, was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. He was not discovered until the next day, and he died several days later in an area hospital. After Matthew’s murder, members of the Tectonic Theater Project in New York City traveled to Laramie to interview residents about how the attack on Matthew had affected the town. These transcripts were transformed into the play The Laramie Project, which tells the stories of real people who lived at the epicenter of one of the nation’s most heinous anti-gay hate crimes. Please join us on the 20th anniversary of this compelling and important event!
