Group Presentation
Directions:
We are going to explore the world of mythology together. After
forming a group and choosing a topic from the list below, research at least 3
different mythologies to learn about your topic. Some mythologies include
Greek, Roman, Norse, Aztec, Mayan, Inca, Eskimo, Iroquois, Hindu, Indonesian,
African, etc. Find connections between the mythologies, ways in which they are
similar or vary. This may be themes, symbols, character types, etc.
Presentation must be no longer than 30 minutes. (Under 20
minutes means you didn’t do a thorough job). How each group chooses to organize
information is limited only by its own creativity.
Requirements:
- Works
cited page of sources used
- At
least three types of multi-media
- This
is a performance essay, not a written one. There will be a
hook/introduction, a thesis, topic sentences and supporting paragraphs,
and a conclusion.
- Use of
the following types of art:
- Paintings
- Sculptures
- a
Shakespeare reference (quote Shakespeare and explain how he used the
allusion to convey meaning in the play)
- a
modern song (any recorded song, basically) that makes a mythological
reference.
PRESENTATION TOPICS:
- Creation
- The
Flood
- The
Afterlife
- The
Apocalypse
- The
Hero - Oedipus, Hercules, Rama, etc.
- Place
Myths – Like Atlantis, Camelot, etc.
- Object
Myths – Like the Holy Grail, or Fire Acquisition
