Tech Core is a required 9 week freshman technology class. The class switches with Frosh Tech.
The course gives the student an introduction to technology/engineering related fields. Major projects include board drafting, computer 3D drafting, a technology speech, robotics, and building a catapult. Due to the fact that we use very specialized programs/equipment in this class, there is very little homework. You are not expected to have these programs at home. Look at the calendar on my website to see what we are working on / due dates.
USB Memory stick: Each student is encouraged to get his/her own USB memory stick. 1 GB is plenty. This is the safest and most reliable way to save your work.
Grading: Each assignment is worth a certain amount of points based on complexity. Your grade is your points earned divided by the points available. Your current grade can be viewed at the Parent portal at all times. I update several times a week.
If you get caught cheating on a SketchUp/SketchyPhysics assignment, your grade on ALL PRIOR SKETCHUP ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE CHANGED TO 0. You will have an opportunity to redo slightly different assignments to earn your grade back.
Extra Time / Help: The lab is open every morning before school. You are always welcome to come in. I usually arrive by 7am.
Late Work: Whether late work is accepted depends on the type of assignment.
* Board Drafting: You can turn in originals or redos up to two weeks after last assignment is due for full points
After that you can no longer turn them in.
* Career & College: Can NOT be turned in late
* Worksheets: Can NOT be turned in late
* Technology Presentation: 100 point penalty if late / Redo
* Sketchup: Can be turned in up to one week after due date for full points.
After that you can no longer turn them in.
* SketchyPhysics: Can be turned in until the day before finals
* Crane / Catapult: Can NOT be turned in late
Expectations: Arrive on time. Pay attention. Take notes. Be respectful.
